I am not one who enjoy porridge, especially at a hawker centre, where it's hot, humid and pack with hungry people everywhere.
But this is one I will definitely brave through the odds just to have it, even if it means having to travel from Sengkang all the way to Jurong West to satisfy my craving.
The savoury porridge, topped with a dash of pepper, spring onions and some sesame oil, is the perfect match to their soft and tender chicken. Give the porridge a good stir and you will find bits of 东菜 below.
The chicken is juicy and even the breast meat is so tender. Another dish which is a must have from the stall is their Yu Sheng (鱼生). The fragrant sesame oil mixture with the raw vegetables and fresh fish adds a special touch to the porridge. Take a mouthful of the slightly cold Yu Sheng and a mouthful of the hot and watery porridge together, it's like the perfect symphony happening right in your mouth.
I personally love the Yu Sheng so much that I usually have the porridge with the Yu Sheng only. And believe me, 1 plate of Yu Sheng may look huge, but one can easily finish the whole plate of Yu Sheng by themselves (oh come on, it's only vegetables right? *oops*).
