Mei Heong Yuen Dessert

65-67 Temple Street

Kreta Ayer Conservation Area

Pumpkin Cake $2.50

Pumpkin cakes. What's so special about it? Well... Nothing special to most people. It's just another type of snack to fill the tummies. I was one of those "most people" till I chanced upon this pumpkin cake. It leaves me craving for more each time I am there and dreaming of those melt-in-mouth pumpkin cakes when I am hungry.

What's so special about it then? The first look at the pumpkin cake and you may think, cheyyyyy... Just another piece of pumpkin cake. You are wrong!

Economical Bee Hoon

409 AMK Market and Hawker Centre

Blk 409 Ang Mo Kio Ave 10

Kway Teow with 3 side dishes (Fried Chicken Wing, Tau Kwa and Hash brown) $3.00

There's always this taste and smell that reminds one of their childhood. Be it a simple or complicated dish.

I have one (or perhaps quite a few) too.

I used to stay over at my Granny's house when I was younger. She will always buy this Economical Kway Teow for my breakfast whenever possible. The waking up to my Granny's voice and the aroma of Milo and the Kway Teow is something I will remember for a very long time. I...

409 AMK Market and Hawker Centre

Blk 409 Ang Mo Kio Ave 10

Fishball Minced Meat Noodles $2.50

Noodles oh noodles.... I love noodles. Bee Hoon, Kway Teow, Mee Kia, Spaghetti, La mian...... Except for Mee Pok. I am not sure why, but perhaps it was the first bad experience that had put me off Mee Pok for so long. I tried giving Mee Pok another chance, but time and time again, it failed me. Till this stall.

I was at this stall with my helper and she love fishball noodles...

Soh Kee Cooked Food

Blk 505 Jurong West St 52

One Person Set Meal (Consisting of Porridge and Chicken) $3.80

Yu Sheng minimum $5

I am not one who enjoy porridge, especially at a hawker centre, where it's hot, humid and pack with hungry people everywhere.
But this is one I will definitely brave through the odds just to have it, even if it means having to travel from Sengkang all the way to Jurong West to satisfy my craving.
The savoury porridge, topped with a dash of pepper, spring onions and some sesame oil, is the perfect match to their soft and tender chicken. Give the porridge a good...

Heartland Gourmet Hunt - Lor Mee

137 Lor Mee

Tampines Round Market and Food Centre

Blk 137 Tampines St 11

Hokkien Lor Mee $2.50/$3.50

When we say Lor Mee, one would usually think of thick black gravy, yellow noodles, braised hard boiled egg, bits and pieces of sliced meat and what not. And sorry to say, I am one of those who hates these type of Lor Mee. I don't like the taste, the noodles and definitely not the ingredients involved. I can say I have not eaten a single bowl of Lor Mee in years, until I came across this stall.
